Kalashnikov-platform 12-gauge shotguns should cycle the ammunition you actually buy and use — reliably, smoothly, and efficiently. That is the essence of what we do, it is all we do, and our dedicated mission with every gun we accept for work. Saigas, Veprs, and KS12 shotguns are all assembled in their respective facilities individually by hand. Parts on each gun are fastened with pins, rivets, and spot welds. No two guns are the same, run exactly the same, or present with the same issues. We know that for really great outcomes each firearm which reaches our bench must receive highly individualized attention.

Who this work is for
This work is for the owner who already has a Saiga 12, Vepr 12, or KS-12, and wants it to cycle the ammunition he actually buys and uses. Stock, already modified, or sitting half-finished from someone else’s bench — if it reached us, it gets the same individualized assessment and the same comprehensive rebuild.
The Rebuild
Every build starts the same way — the gun comes apart completely. Barrel, receiver, gas system, trigger, bolt, carrier. The action gets the full treatment: contact surfaces are individually stoned, lapped, hand-fitted, and where appropriate polished to a mirror finish. The trigger is race-tuned for a smooth, clean, consistent pull with nearly zero takeup, and fast crisp reset. The gas system is modified for optimally regulated gas volume and measured gradient dwell time so the gun works to cycle a wide range of ammo reliably, smoothly, and efficiently. The result is a 12-gauge platform that handles like a carbine — with a semi-auto cyclic rate unrivaled in the industry.
All Lone Star Arms high-performance rebuilds are a pleasure to shoot, performance tuned, and fully capable of a semi-auto cyclic rate of 360 to 400+ rounds per minute. Return shipping, with tracking and adult signature: $60.
Additional customization
The $1,500 high-performance rebuild is the base package. Additional customization is separate and quoted by line item on a parts plus installation labor basis after we talk and we fully understand your needs and requirements. The amount for additional customization can be as little as $40 or $50 for an add-on part, or $2,000 to $3,000 or more for a complete package of customer-specified higher-end features — custom folding stock assemblies, complete low-recoil systems, left-hand or ambidextrous charging handles, specialized and custom sights and optics rails, NFA work with a customer-supplied tax stamp, custom barrel work, muzzle brakes, custom or upgraded forends, and forward grips and rails. NFA Work
Short-barreled shotgun conversions and other NFA-regulated work on the Kalashnikov platform. You must have your ATF paperwork and tax stamps in hand before we begin. We perform the gunsmithing and NFA-related work only — the registration stays with you, and we return the gun properly configured. All NFA rules and procedures apply.

FAQ
What ammunition will it run?
As with any gas-operated system, quality matters. You shouldn’t have to spend a fortune on ammo to shoot and enjoy these builds, and that’s the point. What you do need to do is pay attention to the quality of the shell, and make sure there’s sufficient propellant to fully cycle the gas-operated semi-auto action. Look for shells with a firm hull and a clean, even crimp — no uneven ends or bulges which catch on barrel extensions and create additional resistance as shells enter the barrel. The sweet spot for these guns starts between 1,250 and 1,300 FPS for birdshot (ammo dependent), and around 1,200 FPS for buckshot and slugs. There are lots of affordable ammo choices in this range. However, don’t expect your gas-operated gun to cycle weaker ammo and bulk-pack loads made for breech loaders and pump guns.
Do you work on KS-12 and Komrad as well as Saiga 12 and Vepr 12?
We’ve been performance-tuning and building custom Saiga 12 shotguns since 2009, and we absolutely love their Kalashnikov USA American twins. KS-12, Komrad, and KHAOS rebuilds are $1,500. U.S.-made; 922(r) does not apply.
What is the difference between the $1,500 rebuild and additional customization?
See Additional customization above. The $1,500 job is the rebuild. Everything else is quoted after we talk.
How do I send my shotgun or firearm?
We’ll email you detailed, easy-to-follow shipping and payment instructions with your quote. Please ship your gun only after you have received and read the shipping and payment instructions email.
Which states can you not sell to?
US sales only. All sales final. No sales to residents of CA, CT, DE, HI, IL, MA, MD, NJ, NY, RI, WA, or DC. You must be able to lawfully own the firearm as configured in your US state of residence.
Do you offer military or LE pricing?

Can you work on a gun that already had work done elsewhere?
Yes. We routinely work on guns other shops or that gun owners themselves have previously worked on. We’ve rescued many guns that would otherwise have been non-functional.
